The area around Tiraholm is rich in animal and bird life. The forests are home to elk, roe deer, fox, hare and badger, and if you’re lucky you may spot grouse and capercaillie. A lot of common seabirds and various duck species fly over the lake, but also herons and ospreys are often seen here. Ospreys often follow the boat when it’s time to clean the nets, and often provide themselves with the occasional tasty morsel served directly from the boat.

In the spring we are always visited by nesting Canada geese and gray geese, and a number of cranes like to stop by on their way to Hornborgarsjön. There are also plenty of swans, herons, eagles, seagulls, blackbirds and a variety of ducks.
